The Billy and Wendy Hook Triad Lacrosse Fund

Lacrosse in the Triad would not be where it is today without the leadership of Billy and Wendy Hook during the past 15 years.  Billy has served as Director of Coaching and Development for the TYLA, in addition to being Founder and Director of the Greensboro STX LaxFest, which began in 2000.

Billy’s accolades and contributions to lacrosse in this area would not have been possible without Wendy, always by his side but also serving as a past President of TYLA and as TYLA’s Executive Director from 2004 to 2010. More important than their positions, however, is the fact that Billy and Wendy have been respected leaders and supporters of lacrosse in the Triad and have devoted countless hours and seemingly limitless energy towards growth of the sport.  For this, all of us who have experienced lacrosse in the Triad are grateful.

Billy accepted the position of Director of Programs for U.S. Lacrosse, the national governing body of men’s, women’s and youth lacrosse.  Billy and Wendy have left the Triad and moved to the Annapolis area for Billy’s new position

To honor Billy and Wendy and to help carry on their efforts, a group of friends of the Hooks and supporters of TYLA have established a fund within the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro to support lacrosse in the Triad.  The Billy and Wendy Hook Triad Lacrosse Fund has been established as a special interest endowment to be managed by the Community Foundation to support youth lacrosse in the Triad--in particular to provide funding for those wanting to participate who might not be able to afford equipment, entry fees or travel fees, as well as to promote the advancement of lacrosse in new areas.  Grants from the Fund will be made from the Fund’s earnings each year, and the principal can only be used in the circumstance that permanent turf lacrosse fields for this area become a reality someday, which is a dream shared by Billy and Wendy and many others.

Contributions to the Fund are 100% tax deductible, and can be made by check or by credit card online.  Your contribution to this Fund will serve multiple purposes: (1) honoring Billy and Wendy and showing your appreciation for all they have done for youth lacrosse in this area, and  (2) supporting the sport in this area, and in particular assisting those who want to participate but may be constrained financially from doing so.
Can we count on you to help?  If so, please contact Dan Barker at 275-2728 or , or send your check made payable to the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, 330 S. Greene Street, Suite 100, Greensboro, NC 27401 (memo line:  “Billy and Wendy Hook Triad Lacrosse Fund”).  You will receive a letter back from the Foundation acknowledging your tax deductible contribution.  You may also make a contribution online at www.cfgg.org by credit card or to be billed later.   (You will receive an email acknowledgment of your gift).  Youth Lacrosse in the Triad will thank you, and the Hooks will be most appreciative.
