Dear TYLA Families,
Spring is right around the corner and that means Lax Season! Below is a reminder of how our season will progress. TYLA is a member of the organization Piedmont Community Lacrosse Association (PCLA). PCLA members include: Burlington Lacrosse, Davie County Lacrosse, Deep River Lacrosse, Kernersville Cannons, Oak Ridge Colts, Triad Youth Lacrosse Association, Triple P Lacrosse, Winston Salem Lacrosse. Please visit the PCLA website for detailed information. http://www.piedmontnclax.com/
The PCLA’s role will be to create uniformity amongst the league, schedule games, and serve as an advisory board for the leagues.
With the joining of this organization TYLA can expect the following:
1) Games will be scheduled on Saturdays. However, Sundays could be used as a reschedule day for making games up due to inclement weather or a play day. Players can expect 2 games per Saturday and 2 practices per week. Also we will have our season ending playday, Laxfest! This event boasts the largest recreational youth lacrosse field of teams in the Carolinas. Boys and Girls teams from all across the North Carolina and southern Virginia area come together to celebrate the sport in a fun-filled and competitive environment.
2) All TYLA/PCLA players will play in their age-appropriate leagues. This will most notably affect the U13 & U15 age brackets. All five leagues have agreed to follow this practice. High School freshman can play rec lax ONLY if they do not have a HS team to play for. (Home school kids or players of schools that don’t have a program)
3) All TYLA boys will be evaluated prior to the season, and placed on teams providing the most competitive environment for his current skill level.
4) TYLA will be following the USL rules, the U9 & U11 age groups as one unit and the U13 & U15 age groups as another unit. All PCLA league members will be adhering to these age bracket/rule guidelines.
